Description

The Kiama Independent is one of Australiaโ€™s oldest and proudest mastheads.
It was first published in 1863, so will celebrate its 150th anniversary in 2013.

In 2012, the newspaper experienced the biggest change in its history, changing from a paid masthead to a free paper, being delivered to 7270 homes.

The paper is delivered to a loyal readership in Kiama, Gerringong, Gerroa, Jamberoo, Minnamurra and the rapidly growing residential suburbs of Kiama Downs and Gainsborough.

With a population of more than 12,000, the people of Kiama are a vibrant mix of old and new residents. They include young families and professionals as well as retirees and sea-changers taking advantage of the sought after lifestyle offered by Kiama. Kiama boasts not only the beautiful natural environment of the south coast, including the famous Kiama Blowhole, but a growing reputation as a hub for wining, dining, cafรฉ culture and boutique shopping.

Traditionally a dairy farming area, the Kiama district now thrives on tourism, and the main street is buzzing with day trippers and shoppers every day of the week.

Kiama is also a magnet for weekenders from Sydney who take advantage of a range of high quality accommodation and attractions.
